The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red now wants to announce its next game, Cyberpunk 2077, in late 2016, according to a new report.

Cyberpunk 2077 was declared in October 2012 and, at the time, CD Projekt Red said it was not planning to discuss the game until 2017 at the earliest.

However, refer to a source close to the studio, Gamereactor Germany reports it now wants to target for a late 2016 launch. As of yet, CD Projekt Red has not officially declared a release date.

Even though the game is currently only set for PC, the anonymous source claims a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release is "more than likely." The person goes on to say that it may be that either Sony or Microsoft may try securing the game as an special title.

On December 5, the studio said it is "focusing" on Cyberpunk 2077, but aims to continue backing its award-winning Witcher 3 with new content. The game's second paid expansion, Blood and Wine, comes out in 2016.

Visual effects artist Jose Teixeira previously said "Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before... far, far bigger."
